Petra has 18 years experience working with dogs and cats. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Animal Psychology from the Veterinary University of London, England in 2006. Furthermore she is certified from West L.A. College in Pet First Aid, CPR as well as Pet Massage.

Penny's pets has been wonderful for both of our dogs. Petra is kind, patient, and incredibly loving toward them. She is flexible and accommodating as well. As our 15-year-old Chocolate Lab, got older and could not go out hiking any longer, Petra took her anyway, just so she could "be with her friends". Coco would walk a bit, then just enjoy her time watching the other dogs. We are convinced it prolonged her life. Petra is always happy to share her endless knowledge about dogs and will always go the extra mile.
Our dogs know that Petra is family, just as much as we are.

We love Petra! And so does our incredibly stubborn English Bulldog, Gus... Gus was resistant to the idea of going on walks before Petra was able to convince him that walks are fun. She has endless patience and is always willing to share her considerable knowledge about dogs. We were so lucky to find her!

Petra has helped us so much to understand what our 4 year old 60 pound male Eurasier Beckett is thinking. During the COVID lockdowns he became increasingly aggressive at guarding our house, and us during walks. He was barking and lunging at other dogs, and going nuts over the mailman and delivery drivers.
She quickly saw what the issue was ( it was me) and gave me concrete, simple training steps that led to major improvement immediately. She also gave us training exercises to help with his guarding behavior during a month long trip that defused a tense time between Beckett and another dog in our sons family.
She also takes Beckett once a week on a group hike that he just loves, and it is a great socialization time for him. We recommend her 100% and are grateful we found her.

Great dog training and walking service! Our dog, Jackson, needed some basic obedience training and within a few sessions we both got the hang of it. Petra really is all dogs best friend. She loves them like they are her own and my dog Jaxx knows it and just can't wait to see her. I must say, it's been the best decision I've made for Jaxx! She is an absolute godsend when it comes to helping dog owners understand their dog and how to train them.
Petra's approach to dog training is exceptional. She takes the time to assess each dog's individual needs and personality, and then tailors her training techniques accordingly. Her methods are gentle yet effective, and I saw a remarkable difference in Jaxx behavior after just a few sessions with Petra.

We have been a customer of Penny's Pets PDR for a little over 10 years now and the relationship has been life changing for us and our pets. While on a walk in our neighborhood our then less than a year old puppy (now 11 years old, Sammy) suddenly jumped toward Penny's Pets PDR's parked car, it was at that time I noticed Petra the owner unloading her trunk. We had a brief conversation as she loved on our sweet boy Sammy and it was then I took note of her services. A couple weeks later, after coming home time and time again to a destroyed house after work and a restless puppy, we set out to come across Penny's Pets PDR again to discuss training and walking options for Sammy, and we are so glad we did! Having Penny's Pets PDR allowed Sammy to be socialized, taught him great obedience and he become one of Petra's pack (dare I say her family too). It was heartwarming and comforting to know that our boy was receiving the best care, love and training while we were away at work or for travel. Seeing how easily Sammy gravitated to Petra and her care, eased our parent guilt when we couldn't be with Sammy ourselves. 10+ years and new puppy later, Petra, is once again helping us train our rescue, Sunny. Petra has helped socialized Sunny in so may ways. Getting her to used to people, cars, a leash - you name it, it was foreign to Sunny and Petra was so patient in making Sunny more confident. Now we're working on getting our confident girl some obedience training with Petra. Following one session, we're already seeing improvement. In addition to training and dog boarding for our family (as we are frequent travelers), our best boy and girl participate in weekly (or more) hike adventures with Penny's Pets PDR. We cannot say enough good things about how Petra has impacted our life for us and our pets. We have more socialized and better behaved fur babies, our pets have a second home and pet parent in Petra while we are away on travel, there minds and bodies are active in her care (I am even jealous of the adventures on trails and beaches they get to enjoy we'll I work 🙂 Beyond all the benefits our Pets receive from Penny's Pets PDR, Petra is a great friend to us - always prioritizing our pets needs to help us balance our busy schedules. Petra has been wonderful with both our of dogs. Our older dog has never been playful but going out with a bunch of dogs keeps him social and stimulated. His eyes and ears are going but he loves being out with his pack and smelling as much as he can. Our newer dog was a serious problem when we rescued her. While friendly, she had crazy energy and serious impulse control problems. Petra helped train her, and with the consistent socialization and exercise she is a very different dog now. And we've learned how much she loves small dogs!

Petra has made a huge difference in helping our rescue dog to socialize and feel less anxious when meeting other dogs. From barking hysterically, growling, etc. to now romping and having fun with all breeds (even the "wooly ones", whom she really didn't like). Penny's Pets also allays our guilt for when we don't have time to walk her, or the weather is not inviting. Petra is there, rain or shine, to ensure that our doggy gets her exercise. Dogs and dog owners love her. It's obvious that Petra loves and truly understands animals. She's a wonderful resource.

I’d give Petra 6 stars if I could..
Petra helped train and socialize our rescued standard poodle, Otis - and now takes him on group outings several times per week.
When we first brought Otis home he was 10 months old - we don’t know his background but suspect he’d been neglected as he barely knew how to walk on a leash and was terrified of absolutely everything. Petra first did a series of training sessions with him and then started socializing him with other dogs and in public settings. He became well-adjusted to his new life within a few months and absolutely loves Petra and the gang of dogs that goes on her outings.
Her outings are basically half-day sessions and she takes the dogs all over the west side - from the beach in PDR to the Santa Monica foothills and beyond. Otis comes home every day a happy, tired boy.
Petra is incredibly caring, trustworthy and reliable - I really can’t image what we’d do without her in our lives.

Petra has been a godsend for our pup Kona. Kona is a rescue, and when we first adopted her, she had severe anxiety and a fear of pretty much everything. She's an Australian Cattle Dog so she's also smart and very stubborn. She takes a very long time to get used to people, but Petra was amazing at approaching her and now she's Kona's favorite person.
We first hired Petra to do 10 sessions of training for Kona. For the first few sessions, Petra worked just with Kona, and later she had us work with Kona. She brought Kona on a pack walk with other dogs and Kona thrived being part of a pack. Now Petra takes her regularly on these walks, and Kona has the best time. She burns so much energy on these walks, and we've seen her become so much more comfortable with being out in public and confident.
Petra also is our go-to dog sitter for Kona when we need to go out of town. Petra is dependable, timely and very communicative. Plus she sends us cute photos and videos all the time! She also will send us emails about issues that are in our area, such as food recalls and LA viruses like Lepto. She's a wealth of knowledge.
We love Petra, and we are sure you will too!

The training was amazing and better than we could have hoped. She did more for our dog than we or any other trainer has done before. She set us on the best path to help our dog become confident and not so nervous and scared. We’ve already seen improvements and look forward to seeing her get more comfortable with strangers and being outdoors. We plan on working with her more in the future. I would highly recommend her!!!
